Ladies Love Country Boys
25Oct07
I may not be a lady – my mom, bless her, tried her damnedest but all that horse manure in my boots fertilized a healthy disdain of anything too pink, too frilly and too civilized- but I sure do love country boys
I saw the title of this song mentioned on Lorelei James’s blog and had to check it out. It’s going on my “Why Country Kicks Ass” list
Cheers

LOL “I may not be a lady – my mom, bless her, tried her damnedest but all that horse manure in my boots fertilized a healthy disdain of anything too pink, too frilly and too civilized”
I’m the exact same way. My mom is THE epitome of pretty princess girly girl. I, well, I am NOT. I was pretty much the epitome of tom boy. I can remember my mom wanting my hair long, telling me that if I didn’t brush it, she’d cut it all off. So, there I was, six or seven, trying to putting dreds in my hair. LOL Yeah, that didn’t work. Mom lied. But, yeah, I can understand. I buried my Barbies in the back yard and stole my brother’s Matchbox cars and army men and went hunting with my dad.
LOL – you buried your Barbies?? I just cut my Barbie’s hair off, made her a brown shirt/dress thing, put her on one of my My Little Ponies and when my mom freaked I told her there was nothing to be done…Barbie had been kidnapped by Indians and was now being trained to be an Indian warrior and all that hair was getting in the way *EG*
My mom was a ballet dancer. She put me in ballet classes and tried to get me to wear dresses whenever she could. I went to one lesson – told her I didn’t need a class to teach me how to point my toes and you can’t climb a decent-sized tree in a dress – jeez, I was a pain for her to deal with
The irony of it all is my mom now has her revenge…my three-year old only wants to wear dresses, her favorite color is pink and she’s just started dance classes *rolls eyes*
I guess some genes really do skip a generation.
